Finding Resilience:

A Reflection on the Un-Chained Event

On September 7th, we gathered for the highly anticipated Un-Chained: Limitless Success is Your Destiny event, where entrepreneurs, managers, and mid-career professionals came together to break free from the chains of life that were holding them back. These chains aren’t always visible, but they’re just as powerful: limiting beliefs, self-doubt, and the fear of failure. Together, we explored how to dismantle these barriers and unlock the potential for limitless success.

The Chains of Entrepreneurship or Management

Entrepreneurs and managers often carry a unique burden. They’re responsible not only for business growth and decision-making but also for leading and inspiring others. Yet, many grapple with their own internal struggles behind the scenes. These struggles include the relentless pressure to succeed, the fear of failure, and perhaps most deeply, the fear of disappointing others—whether it's their teams, investors, or loved ones.

One of the most pervasive chains is the limiting belief that often goes unnoticed: the belief that we don’t have any limiting beliefs. This false sense of security often keeps us from digging deep and confronting what’s truly holding us back.

A Breakthrough Moment:

The Story of Resilience

During the event, one of the participants, an ambitious entrepreneur struggled with one of the exercises that asked everyone to list a failure they had experienced at any point in their lives. Without hesitation, she quipped, “I don’t have any failures because every challenge is a chance to learn.”

On the surface, this is a powerful mindset—a common refrain in personal development circles. But as we dug deeper, a different reality began to surface. While she consciously **wanted** to believe there is no such thing as failure, and proudly declared her ability to pick herself up, brush herself off, and learn from experiences, a part of her psyche wasn’t fully reconciling this belief as truth.

As we peeled back the layers, it became clear that while she reframed challenges in a positive light, she was still feeling stuck. She admitted she was far less successful than she wanted to be, and that, despite her outward confidence, she often experienced **analysis paralysis** and a deep fear of disappointing herself. This is a classic "failure" judgment, hidden beneath the surface of positivity.

Through our resilience exercises and discussions, she learned to recognize this self-sabotaging behavior. More importantly, she discovered how it prevented her from reaching her true potential. As we dove into the Resilience Plan—a framework for identifying personal resilience in specific, measurable ways—she had an eye-opening realization: her mindset, while outwardly positive was actually limiting her from experiencing the breakthroughs she desperately desired.

By the end of the event, she gained a level of clarity she hadn’t experienced in years. She not only recognized the chains holding her back, but also began developing the tools to break them. The shift wasn’t just about adopting a new mindset, but about learning how to actively change years of ingrained self-sabotaging behaviors.

The Bottom Line...

No matter how strong or successful we appear on the outside, many of us still carry hidden chains—limiting beliefs, deep fears, and self-sabotaging behaviors that hold us back from achieving our full potential. The Un-Chained event was a powerful reminder that resilience isn’t just about bouncing back, but about unlearning the internal narratives that keep us stuck. True resilience comes from acknowledging the beliefs that limit us and actively working to overcome them.

If you’re ready to identify and break free from the chains holding you back, I invite you to take the next step. Overcoming the Fear of Change:

Embrace Your Potential with Proven Strategies

Fear is a natural part of the human experience, especially when faced with significant life or career changes. Isabella, like many of us, grapples with the fear that change will bring more problems than benefits. Let’s delve into this fear and use proven strategies to conquer it.

The Problem: Fear of Change

Problem Statement: "Change is too risky and could lead to failure."

Why This Belief Feels True:

  1. Past Experiences: Past attempts at change that didn’t succeed can reinforce the fear that change is inherently risky.

  2. Comfort Zone: Staying in a familiar situation, even if it’s not ideal, feels safer than venturing into the unknown.

Why This Belief Is Untrue:

  1. Growth Through Challenge: Every successful individual has faced setbacks. For example, Thomas Edison failed over a thousand times before inventing the lightbulb. Each failure provided valuable lessons that contributed to eventual success.

  2. Change as a Growth Catalyst: Change is often the key to unlocking new opportunities. For instance, many clients have reported that their biggest breakthroughs came after taking calculated risks. Change can open doors to new skills, networks, and possibilities that would otherwise remain closed.

Proven Success Strategies to Overcome the Fear of Change:

  1. Model Your Success Path

    • Write Out the Problem: Clearly articulate the fear and its perceived risks. Example: "I fear that starting a new project will lead to failure and wasted resources."

    • Acknowledge the Validity: Recognize why this fear might seem valid. Example: "Previous projects didn’t go as planned, leading to a loss of resources."

    • Debunk the Misconceptions: Counter the fear with truths. Example: "However, each failure provided valuable lessons that improved my future projects. Moreover, with a well-thought-out plan, risks can be minimized and managed effectively."

  2. Leverage Real Success Stories for Your Own Beliefs

    • Example 1: Jane, a client who was initially afraid to scale her business due to past failures, saw a 30% increase in revenue after implementing targeted strategies. She used her previous experiences to fine-tune her approach, proving that change, when managed correctly, can lead to substantial growth.

    • Example 2: Mark was reluctant to pivot his career path, fearing he’d waste time and resources. After embracing a new direction, he not only found greater job satisfaction, and advanced quickly within his new field, demonstrating that change can lead to unexpected and positive outcomes.

  3. Implement Strategic Planning

    • Action Steps: Develop a clear plan with actionable steps. Break down the change into manageable parts and set milestones to track progress. Example: "Instead of viewing the change as one big leap, break it into smaller, achievable goals. Celebrate each small victory to build confidence."

    • Monitor and Adjust: Continuously review your progress and adjust strategies as needed. This iterative approach helps manage risks and refine your path based on real-time feedback and results.

The Bottom Line:

Fear of change is a common hurdle, but it’s one that can be effectively managed with the right strategies. By acknowledging and addressing the fear, leveraging real success stories, and implementing a strategic plan, you can transform uncertainty into a powerful driver of growth and success. Remember, embracing change is not about eliminating risk, but about strategically navigating it to achieve your fullest potential.

From Limited to Limitless:

Pam’s Journey

We've all been there - we know we were meant for more, we know there is something better out there for us, but the path is as clear as mud!

Pam Gram Transforms Her Business with Accountability and Focus

Pam Gram came to our coaching session juggling a full plate—literally and figuratively. With two catering jobs and the responsibility of managing her mother’s finances, Pam’s dream of launching cooking classes for single working moms seemed to always take a back seat. She was passionate about helping others learn to cook nutritious meals on a budget, but she lacked the time, organization, and clarity to turn her vision into reality.

During our session, we quickly identified two key obstacles: Pam's overly packed schedule and the absence of a clear plan for her cooking classes. Pam’s goal was to replace her catering work with teaching cooking classes, but without clear direction, she was spinning her wheels.

The Solution: Organizing and Niching Down

To help Pam shift her focus, I guided her through organizing her business targets and creating a crystal-clear message. We discussed the importance of niching down, and Pam realized that her ideal audience was single working moms, a group she felt passionate about serving. Together, we outlined a plan for her classes, emphasizing how she could help these moms save money and time in the kitchen. Her lessons would focus on meal planning, repurposing leftovers, and cooking on a budget—skills that busy moms could truly benefit from.

Pam immediately saw the value in honing her message and targeting a specific audience. This shift in focus allowed her to move forward with a clear plan and renewed energy.

Actionable Steps: Accountability and Milestones

A critical part of Pam’s transformation was learning to hold herself accountable. I introduced her to the idea of working with an accountability partner and stressed the importance of setting clear parameters. Too often, people fall into the trap of having accountability partners who don’t push them hard enough.

I recommended Pam partner with someone who would challenge her and hold her to her deadlines. We crafted specific milestones for Pam’s business development: clarifying her avatar profiles with outside help, selecting 15-20 recipes for her cooking classes by October 5th, and launching her marketing campaign by November 14th.

By setting specific, measurable goals, Pam now has a roadmap to follow—and the support system to keep her on track.

The Bottom Line:

Pam’s success story shows the power of focus, accountability, and taking action. With a clear plan, defined audience, and accountability partner, Pam is on her way to replacing her catering work with her true passion. Most importantly, she’s learned the tools to keep herself on track and make her dream a reality.

Quick Tips for Remembering Resilience

  • Think of a Time when You Failed - Write all the details you can

    • Did you really fail, or did you learn something that helped you later in life?

  • Draft a clear report of a time when you were successful.

  • Draft a clearer report of when you had a BIG challenge and succeeded.

  • Pick out the Skills, Talents, Expertise, Abilities, and Attributes that helped you survive and succeed in all these situations.

  • Write a list and craft a message to yourself about why you are resilient based on these situations and your skills and abilities.

  • Keep this list in places you can refer to when you find yourself struggling to be productive.

FAQs:

1. What is the first step in building resilience in my business or personal life?

Answer: The first step is acknowledging where you are and understanding that challenges are a natural part of growth. It’s about shifting your mindset from "why is this happening?" to "what can I learn from this?" By reframing setbacks as opportunities for learning, you build the foundation for resilience. My programs are designed to help you identify these growth opportunities and turn challenges into stepping stones for future success.

2. How can I overcome the fear of failure?

Answer: Fear of failure often stems from a limiting belief that every misstep is a reflection of your ability or worth. To overcome this, we work together to break down these beliefs, look at the evidence of your past successes, and create a roadmap for future wins. Resilience is built when you see failures not as endpoints, but as moments that guide you toward success. In my coaching sessions, I help you reframe these moments and use them to propel forward.

3. How will coaching help me achieve success faster?

Answer: Coaching accelerates your success by providing clarity, accountability, and proven strategies. Instead of feeling overwhelmed by all the options and decisions, coaching helps you focus on what truly matters, guiding you to make clear, actionable steps toward your goals. You’ll not only gain resilience through overcoming obstacles, but you’ll also experience measurable results faster—whether it's more time, higher revenues, or greater personal fulfillment.
